Off on holiday? Do not leave without your cheap travel insurance
There are so many horror stories circulating about holidaymakers finding themselves in sticky situations as they thought they wouldn’t need to get personal cover for their trip. You may think you are in good health and that you will be careful not to lose anything while you are away but you cannot control an unexpected accident or theft of your belongings, so it is essential to only take a trip if you can afford to get covered. It is far better to be safe than sorry and when a heart attack in Spain can set you back a whopping £35,000, it is unthinkable that so many holidaymakers go away with no cover.

If you take a trip to the US and suffer a fractured hip with no cover, you could be looking at a medical bill of £22,000, so the basic rule of thumb is only go away if you can afford to get a policy that covers you for at least the bare essentials like medical care. Fewer than 60 countries have healthcare arrangements with the UK and even the ones that have, like Australia; it is likely that you will still be charged for an ambulance ride and any tests that need to be carried out, so your ‘free’ healthcare can still lead to big bills.
